I've grown both Echinops 'Veitch's Blue' and 'Taplow Blue' as well as ritro
and the named forms are definitely a better colour. I also find that they
stand up to the weather better.
On the same colour theme, have any of you seen Eryngium 'Blue Ribbon'? Not
only is it a superb steely blue but it has little satelite flower heads off
the main flower. Really smart. Being near the coast down here it is very
popular with those who garden on sand.
On a totally different track, my hardy hybrid Alstroemeria are looking
brilliant at the moment. 'Marina' and 'Verona' both have large flowers on
sturdy stems and are producing flowers of floristry quality. But they are
friendly little plants though. Spreading around to say hello to the other
plants in the garden!
Happy Days.
