Re: Cutting back Geranium "Johnson's Blue"

Leslie:

My mother is a nut on geraniums and has had 'Johnson's Blue' for some years
now.
Every year about this time to mid-July, we have to back it down from its
lofty aerie
of about 4.5 feet to around 2 feet and it reblooms in August. The plants have
become
very large now and have nudged out many smaller, daintier plants and don't
look very attractive when they reach their height as they tend to flop over
and brown out in the middle. I wonder if these geraniums would benefit from
some cutting back to, say, 12"-15" early on. It works wonders for Platycodon
grandiflorous and maresii (sp?), which is supposed to be about 24"-36", but
that I can almost look in the eye by the end of July - without stooping!
