I've grown from seed this year Heuchera Emperor's Cloak
(from Chiltern Seeds). This was new for 1999 and is
described as "a superb new form of Heuchera - planted toward
the front of your border it will gain the attention of all
who pass and urgent enquiries will be made as to its name
and origin. It forms neat and tidy mounds of wonderful
foliage consisting of puckered, folded and pleated leaves in
rich beetroot-red to deep purple colours, and which appear
to be almost transparent in the sun. From these emerge in
delightful contrast, like lights in early twilight, thin
stems of charming, fluffy white flowers." The seedlings are
doing well, and I'm looking forward to bowling over my
visitors over the next couple of years!
