This cosmos is a perennial variety. The proper name is Cosmos astrosanguineus.
My horticultural book states it is for zones7-10. I am in zone 6, which is
probably why mine didn't make it a few years ago.
The flowers look like the annual cosmos but have a light, chocolate scent to
them.
They should be able to survive in your zone Donna. I've never seen them in
garden centers in my area and I had to order thru a catalog. Perhaps in the
zones that they *do* survive in they are offered.
