Re: Crinum Lilies
Mea
I don't know much about the Crinum Lily, except what I've read. I came
by mine when my husband and I purchased his grandparents old home
place, which is over 100 years old. we had owned the place for about 2
years before I ever noticed the Crinums. I was never there when they
were in bloom, so I didn't realize what I had, and then one day I
bought a magazine and there was an article about the Crinum. That's
when I realized what they were. I see them in gardens all over the
south. everyone has them........
I dug up 2 very large clumps and wound up with I think 26 bulbs.
Some of them were very large.
I shared with friends and family and planted 8 of them for myself. (in
the fall of '99) this will be the first year for them so I don't think
they will bloom for me this year or it may take several years for them
to bloom, therefore I haven't a clue what species I have or what color.
I have one more clump to be dug. a friend told me I should sell them,
but since I don't know what species or the color, I don't believe I can
do that, besides I really don't want to sell them. I've other friends
that I can give them to. and I'd rather do that.
the article gives some good information. if you would like me to
highlight this article for you, I would be glad to do so. if you
would like for me to send it by private e-mail I would be glad to do
that.
it gives several species and also planting instructions and other
information as well.
let me know if I can help you
