I had The King some years ago, but was disappointed that it's color 
didn't match the picture in the catalog and it got rather lost among 
the other lavenders that I had.  Perhaps different cultural 
conditions would have brought out a deeper color.

On the other hand, I did find a P. paniculata by the name of 'Miss 
Kelly', which had a rather striking white and light lavender 
swirling/mottling/streaking to the petals - almost reminded me of 
'Franz Schubert' (sp?).  I obtained it locally and have not seen it 
in any of the perennial catalogs.
