Yarrow, yarrow, yarrow

And, Chris,

how long does your 'Pearl' stay in bloom? Mine just flops about the
garden, putting forth a short bloom season much like Baby's Breath. I'm
beginning to think that it's because it's being over-fertilized because
it's right near a rose. Translation: fertile soil and a good dose of
fertilizer every Spring. I can't say that my 'Pearl' has lush foliage,
though, because of it. It certainly hasn't reseeded. It just comes up
dutifully every year, gives me a few weeks of bloom, and then sits there
along with white echinacea. They're a cool pair when they bloom, but
neither one is particularly robust.
I have them next to a red rugosa rose. The rose is not particularly greedy
nor does it provide much shade. Those of you with rugosas know what I
mean. So I can't see where the rose is much of a factor in this. I
remember earlier in the year that the list discussed the white echinacea
and I think most of you agree with me that it's not very impressive. I'm
just wondering about the yarrow.
