Some bulbs are, some aren't. Having a bulb is something shared by hundreds of different plants, many of them unrelated. I've seen people eat crocus bulbs with no ill effect -- describing the flavor as "nutty" which, I think, is the vegetable equivalent of "tastes like chicken" -- and goodness knows the squirrels and other vermin love to eat crocus bulbs! If I could somehow connive the
squirrels into eating, say, daffodil bulbs then my life would be truly happy.
Daylily flowers have been eaten by humans since prehistoric times. Of course, many of those people are dead... ;-)
