Acanthus/Bear's Breeches

Hi all,
    I am wondering if anyone grows Acanthus hungaricus/Bear's Breeches?  I
have tried with one plant for about 3 years and it is still small and puny.
I have moved it to various locations, hoping to find the right spot and have
just moved it again this weekend.  It is now in a part shade location.  It
is still alive, but very small and it is supposed to be a large, spreading
plant.  Any help would be most appreciated!
