RE: Coppice?


Joanie,

I wonder if you are thinking of pollarding, which is different to pleaching.
Pleaching is where the trees are planted in rows and the branches trained
horizontally to create a *wall* of foliage when in leaf.   Pollarding is
when the tree branches are cut back to 1 - 2 inches to the main stem,
resulting in a mass of shoots developing from the top of the cut stem.

The above comes from reference books - not my head :-).   I cannot find
anything that sounds like coppicing, but hope that helps.

method of trees or shrubs called that sounds like coppicing and is similar
