I would add one more suggestion. Your teacher friend should form a survey
group in his class and look at other sites that are similar to his. You need
a starting point and that would be so diffficult with abosolutely no
experience. Taking sketches or photos of that which is successful in your
climate would be a place to start. Then you could begin the research.
