Caulophyllum thalictroids

I bought this plant about 2 years ago based upon the catalogue description
of the wonderful berries it is reported to produce.  So far, no berries.
This plant looks fine every spring but then deteriorates thereafter.  I
can't say I even remember the flowers.
 Has anyone grown this?  Can you tell me what conditions it wouldl thrive
under?  I have it in mostly shade, moist conditions.  Thanks for any help.
