Well, on the other hand it's certainly the way to tell if an issue has
seriously annoyed the viewers or not. An e-mail takes almost no effort or
cost. Writing or phoning in does, especially if you don't live anywhere near
Boston.
I had stopped watching Victory Garden a while ago. In fact I have stopped
watching all television gardening programs now that CBC has stopped making
new Canadian Gardeners. I feel that I still know very little about
gardening, but the programs weren't telling me anything I didn't already
know. Of course I feel the same way about gardening magazines. And when it
comes to books I can often learn more from something like Adventures With
Hardy Bulbs or My Garden In Spring than I can from the latest book out
(although there are certainly exceptions like anything by Graham Rice).
Which has very little to do with Victory Garden or WGBH. I think we've done
this thread recently, but it's slow waiting for spring in Canada.
I wonder what PBS viewership is like these days. Outside of gardening season
I used to happily spend all Saturday watching PBS, from the morning cooking
and gardening shows on up to This Old House, but now except for Antiques
Roadshow (can't believe the prices people pay for some junk I wouldn't want
in my barn) and the odd episode of Mystery, I don't put it on at all.
