Hi,
I'm in Phoenix, Arizona. I use a silicon adhesive to glue my Gazing Ball into
the stand. The stand has never, ever blown over...through monsoon seasons with
gail force winds.
Also, my gazing balls sit in full sun, dawn till dusk, in 118 degree temps and
are fine.
If you are concerned about your gazing ball falling and breaking, perhaps you
should just get a low stand, where it can sit right on the ground. For that
matter, dig a hole, stick the stem end into the ground, and then fill it back
in with dirt. I think you are wise to put it in the back yard, depending of
course on where you live, rural or suburbia or downtown. You will have to be
the judge of that.
