Re: perennials DIGEST V3 #352

I've had good luck with http://www.roseraie.com/
They have both own root and grafted. I like their approach of "practical" roses.

Subject: Own root roses

Hi everyone,
My son & his family live in Chester County, PA and are wanting to plant a
rose garden this spring. They are looking for good sources of own root
roses. Especially David Austins and old roses. He wants good sized plants,
not first year rooted cuttings. Bare root or potted - I don't think it
matters.
Would you please send me your suggestions of mail order nurseries and/or
walk in nurseries where he could find a selection of roses as decried above?
I will forward your suggestions on to him.

Thanks very much, Marilyn

Nice work Alan! I guess since your thrift store find is planted with a tree
rose, the container could be called a "tree trunk"? :)

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to share with you a thrift store find. I've been out searching for
inexpensive ways to add ornaments to my garden, creative and
imaginative...so, Thursday
I hit the thrift stores in between work and our rose society meeting (It's
easier than
driving home and then to the rose society meeting, saves gas, you know, lets
go
shopping!). I stopped at one and it had this beautiful trunk in it that I
guess was
used for shipping Jamaica rum. It says Appleton Estates, Jamaica Rum on the
side of
it. Anyway, they only wanted $20 for it, so I bought it, thinking it would
make a
wonderful pot. You can see it by going to my web site and clicking on
"Pictures taken

think...
