To add more to Marge's research here is what I found when I repotted the two
plants I recently purchased.
I knocked them out of the pots as they seemed filled with roots. The plants
had runners, long stolons, encircling the lower parts of the 4 inch pots plus
a few already poking through the surface.
This is a strongly stoloniferous plant. I replanted in larger nursery pots
and will use in containers, I think.
When there is a plant patent pending and a name has been invented, the tag
nearly always omits the species. If using as an annual in containers, I
suppose that is of no consequence but I think of artemesias as perennials.
There are places for these thugs. I have A. ludoviciana aka as Silver King
and Silver Queen. This plant will grow in places dry and infertile such as
roof overhangs and rocky gravelly areas. It is only when put into the garden
that it expands so quickly. Maybe we will hear more of Oriental Limelight as
the growing season progresses.
It is a pretty plant and I see it selling easily.
