Marge: I've had the pleasure of trying Lychnis just once. I was given a
seedling in the spring of 2000. The plant grew well during it's first year
and, before it was able to bloom, last spring it died. I think it was just a
little wet for it.
We have had year after year of hot, dry weather and last year was the first
year, in many, that we actually had some rain systems move through. Spring
of 2001 was the wettest spring in a long while for us. I think this plant
had grown accustom to being dry.
The seedling would have bloomed a deep rose pink color. The lady who had
given me the seedling has since passed on. This was one of her favorite
plants, she always called it a Salvia.
