Ballota nigra "prancing Jester has been grown by my daughter in her zone
6a/5b garden in Connecticut with great success for two or three years . Lots
of sun and a reasonably friable soil, acyually slightly sandy. A wonderful
mound thick with folisge. In my Bucks Countyzone 6b garden where it gets
afternoon sun in a heavy soil, it grows but is not a star. Somewhat open and
gappy( is gappy a word?). Assumptions: I do think it requires a lighter
soil and certainly Full sun. I will move it this spring to a better
location and see if it is happier....otherwise I'll enjoy my daughters
Walter in Bucks County, zone 6b
