Nope, Donna, it ain't normal....it is a sure sign of
VOLES......several of mine have done the same...gotta start after
those durn pests! Now that I keep my hunting cat inside, they are
increasing in numbers. Think I shall have to let her out after dark
so she can't get the birds but can get the voles. A good hunting cat
is the best way to keep their populations in check IMO.
If they leave it alone, it will send out new roots, but you will
likely find the clump diminished in size and vigor this season..
