Lillian, my garden is a zone 4 garden and I am certain it would not be 10
weeks till planting would be possible. You do not need to wait for 'last average
frost date' which would be the middle of May.
I would pot them and leave them in a cold indoors environment. You did
not say if they are dormant but if they are not it may force them into
dormancy. This will not harm them. I have had a 4' black hills spruce in my cold
garage since xmas and it is doing fine. I used it outdoors at the ft door at
xmas and will plant it as soon as the frost goes out. I have moved it in and out
as weather has permitted (more in than out). The tricky part is providing
enough moisture but not over watering.
Are these hardy roses or will you need to bury for winter protection?
