Marilyn and Al.......
I used to be a staunch supporter of my local PBS station until I
learned first hand just how irrelevant they consider their viewers
except as a source of revenue...not any more and especially since
they've started doing so much blatant advertising; almost as bad as
the 'commercial' stations any more - at least here. IMO, either you
are viewer supported or you run ads; you can't have it both ways and
they're trying to do this.
Used to find many programs on PBS that I watched; in fact, hardly
ever watched the commercial stations at all. Now, I hardly watch any
of them except for the news and on the rare occasions they have
something that looks interesting.
I'll be most interested, Al, in what kind of response you get from
PBS to any comments you make to them...let us know, OK? Would also
be interesting to find out just how much of the money they collect
from viewers actually goes to fund programs.
Pity about PBS...they used to provide such excellent programs.
You're right, Al, seems like so much that's aired now is re-runs or
re-hashes of programs done 30 years ago - "updated" but not improved
upon.
