Mark, How about Leopard's Bane (spots instead of stipes), Doronicum
cordatum? An early blooming, (March here in zone 8b) bright yellow,
daisy-like flower on 18" stems. It has nice bright green heart shaped
leaves. It is very pretty with Daffodils and Iberis sempervirens. I believe
summer blooming Gazania has striped flowers. Marilyn
