Rita, There is a wonderful perennial Oriental Poppy call 'Prince of Orange'
with a black blotch deep inside. For a smaller perennial poppy try
Meconopsis cambrica. It comes in orange and yellow. Starts blooming early
and goes off and on the whole summer. Beware however, it seeds around
outrageously. I just pull out the ones I don't want or dig them out and
hand them to anyone who admires them. Also, there is a tall garden Phlox
paniculata called 'Orange Perfection' that has a blush of magenta. It
sounds loud, but is actually quite handsome. Check out the orange Pansies on
the cover of March Horticulture mag.
