Hi Linda,  Do you live in Boise?  That's my old home town.  Anyway, have you
thought of using a gold thread cypress, Chamaecyparis pisifera 'aurea' or
Chamaecyparis obtusa 'aurea'.  Euonymus fortunei 'Canadale', 'Emerald &
Gold' & 'Golden Prince', or E. japonica 'aureo-variegata' are all small
broadleaf evergreens that are very gold.
