Hi Ann, I have grown Meconopsis betonicifolia (also beautiful blue) and
balked when I heard that they should be disbudded until the 3rd year. I had
made up my mind NOT to do that, but the matter was taken out of my hands
because the plants didn't bloom until the 3rd year anyway. I'll tell you
the flowers were worth waiting for! Oh so beautiful. You could run your
own test by disbudding some and not others and see what happens. I am
eagerly awaiting the return appearance of my beauties this spring. %^)
