Hi Mark, Someone needs to tell my Whirling Butterflies they are sterile,
they don't seem to know it. I found dozens of babies all around and have
just potted them up and they are doing very well. I prune my plants ( 3 in
a group) hard just about now and yes you will get some new basal growth as
well as new shoots on the old wood. My clump has gotten so big as to be
spectacular in bloom. It is near the sidewalk in the rockery and passersby
will stop to admire it and usually sniff to see if it is fragrant. That is
the only fault I can find - no fragrance. Try it with Perovskia as a
companion plant, I promise you won't be sorry. %^) Marilyn
