Columbine seeds

I had started my columbine seeds in some jiffy pots, and put down in my
cellar under lights to germinate (as I do with almost all of my seeds, with
fine success). Anyway, then I read here that the columbine seeds should be
refrigerated first to germinate. Can I refrigerate them now that they are
in moist peat pots, and hope for success? How long do I chill them, and
then what temperature do I put them out in after being in the refrigerator?
 Thanks.
