Hi Deb,
Yes, columbines do need a period of cold stratification prior to
germination. As long as the peat pots are kept moist, you shouldn't
have any problems refrigerating them -- it should be for about 3 weeks.
After that, keep them moist and warm (about 75F) until they germinate,
then make sure that they get air flow and move them to a cooler area
(65F).
