Hi Terry, I have just finished (2 weeks ago) propagating my 3rd year clumps
of English hybrid Delphiniums exactly as you describe and my cuttings are
looking very good! I am SO pleased. I ordered seed from you in February I
believe and am ready to sow it now. Can't wait to see what new and
beautiful colors and color combinations I will have.
There seems to be a huge difference of opinion as to whether or
not Delphinium seed needs stratification. When I posed the question to the
seeds list a month or two ago, the response was equally divided. 50% said
just sow it and put on 70 F bottom heat and 50% said pre chill the seed in
the fridge first (everyone said a different length of time). Acknowledging
that there is always more than one right way to do anything, I would
appreciate having your expert opinion before I begin.
