At the risk of tooting my own company's horn, I would like to
recommend *Caring for Perennials* by Janet Macunovich published by
Storey Books. I work at Storey, but I also garden and this book
guided me in the installation and upkeep of a good size perennial bed
last summer. It is not an encyclopedia of plants, rather provides a
profile of a year in the life of a perennial bed. Janet has a nice
writing style and the book is very readable. Cost is $17.95 and it
should be available in stores or by calling Storey at 800 441 5700 or
visiting www.storey.com.
