Re: bulbs etc.
For price, I don't think you can beat Bluestone Perennials at
7211 Middle Ridge Rd. in Madison, Ohio 44057, phone 1-800-852-5243.
Nice small plants, usually three for $7 or $8, with a few around $5 each
(larger sizes). Great selection, service and packaging.
Milaegers has an excellent selection (out of Racine, Wisconsin). Busse
in Minnesota has an enormous list, not many pictures. Andre Viette in
North Carolina (?) has a wholesale as well as a retail catalog -- if
you're ordering from out of their state, I don't think they're too picky
about wholesale orders. I got 12 big healthy plants of a pink mum last
year for $1.50 each -- the more of one kind you order, the lower the
per-plant cost. Their service can be iffy, but the price is worth it.
For bulbs, I like the Daffodil Mart and (for lilies) B&D Lilies in Port
Washington, Oregon. White Flower Farms has a separate company that
specializes in quantity bulb orders for low prices -- can't remember the
name offhand. Dutch Bulbs is great, too -- they have perennials in
their spring catalog, as well as bulbs for spring & fall. I'll be glad
to supply specific phone/address/e-mail info on these & others for
anyone who wants it.
