I haven't purposely grown platycodon from seed, but it can't be too 
difficult...I spent a lot of time digging up seedlings from my flower 
bed last year, because they were taking over!  According to T&M, the 
seeds need light to germinate, and do so at about 70 degrees F.  They do 
have a long tap root, so they might be easier to start in a nursery bed 
than in a seed flat.  Wish I'd known you needed some before I tossed all 
those on the compost heap!
