Climbing something or another

HELP!  I have had an idea to plant something that will climbing and cover an
unsightly wooden fence.  But, it is in partial shade, about 3-4 hours a day.
Any ideas?  Would love something that flowers.  Would clematis work?  Any
and all ideas are appreciated.
