Does anyone know of a lilac that does well in my area (zone 7, Chevy Chase,
Maryland). Most of the lilacs I see here are not much to write home about,
I suppose because our weather is so hot & humid. But if there is one that
does well. . . I'd love to try it.

Peggy
Thanks for the great info. Last year we planted two lilac bushes. I have
never
had any in my own yard, but growing up we had a huge one in the yard. I used
to love to pick them on a warm rainy spring day, especially is slightly
humid.
They really permeated the air. I can only hope my two will bloom. A fellow
coworker has had two bushes that have never bloomed.
I planted ours in full sun. Hopefully, I will get flowers. It is the "old
fashioned" cultivar of Syringa.
I also love the smell of composted cow manure...quite odd :~)
