i worked in the newpaper industry for a number of years and as far as i
know all inks are now soy based. i use them regularly as mulch on paths
and under squash. I do no use mags or any coated (shiney) paper-they are
coated with a varnish like substance. Shredded paper does not remove harmful
chemicals but it does compost faster.
