Re: Centranthus ruber

Centranthus ruber is also called red valerian, keys of heaven, Jupiter's
beard. It is 2 or 2 1/2 feet tall, has red (not screaming red) flower
clusters and medium green leaves. In your climate it may be nearly
evergreen; I have it in a sheltered spot and it takes a mean freeze to
make it go dormant. It's in most perennial catalogues so it should be
easy to find a picture. I expect it would do fine where you are, since
it's rated zones 4-9.
