Goodness! I've used coleus in the sun with no problem. Now, I've kept
them in pots and watered regularly, but I like the color combinations I can
get. Has anyone tried using the lime green coleus with hot pink verbena
and purple salvia? How about using the dark purple coleus with red
geraniums and the silver-leaved helichrysum (sp?) a.k.a. licorice plant? I
never have to worry about the colors fading or keeping it in bloom all
summer (in fact, I pinch off the flower spikes).
Take all cultural requirements with a little salt. What will do well in
your yard might wither away in mine even though we are in the same
neighborhood. It all depends on location, soil, and the care you give. I
like the email that was posted a few days ago by someone who suggested that
experience makes the best teacher. I second the thought!
