I realize that this is a little off topic, but Margaret
wrote about paying extra for second day mail. I was talking to our
postmistress yesterday about 3:30 when I sent out my packages and I was raving
about how fast the mail had been when I sent the first shipment of aconite
out. She explained to me that if our post office (and a tiny one it is!)
can cancel the mail itself, it saves a step in the hierarchy of the U.S. mail
and delivery is much faster. I am duly impressed that something growing in
my garden one day can be across the country and planted in another garden within
24 hours! Guess I need to take back all those bad things I USED to say
about the mail.
