Isabelle, as I'm sure many people are going to tell you, ants do not help
the peony buds open. They are just feeding on the sweet liquid the buds
exude. That they help the buds open is a commonly held belief, and I have
seen it in a gardening book written as recently as ten years ago, but it
simply isn't true. Besides, ants on your peonies are one thing, but ants in
your house, as in this case, are something else.
