Bill's right, the verbena even came up between two pieces of concrete
sidewalk. I didn't care, it wasn't in the way. Last year's plants didn't
die back here, the winter was too mild, as Bill said. I just love that
blue hazy look. Right now the mysotis and brunnera are doing it, helped
along by some columbine..
Iris: I've transplanted them from April to October and it doesn't seem
to phase 'em. Just cut the foliage back to about an 8" fan, plant the
rhizome half in the ground, water well and walk away. Even better if you
can do this right before a little rain is expected. No mulch.
And in January I get out and clean out any leaves from around the
rhizomes and cut off any dead foliage. I think that serves to have
healthier iris than anything else I do.
Someone mentioned using Myrphy's Oil Soap on borers. How exactly?
