Thanks to all who responded to my geum question. I guess I wasn't
really clear about what's happening though - The plant has 8 or 9
stalks, with buds/flowers on each stalk. The buds opened - sort of - I
could see a little of the color of the petals, but then the center grew
as large as the bud and is protruding out of the semi-open bud. I know
that the Geum (in this case Mrs. Bradshaw) is an open, erect, sky-facing
flower. These are turned towards the ground, and almost look like
hanging bells with dandelion seeds inside . . . . .
As I mentioned, the other plant (6 inches away) is not flowering at
all. Could this seed producing behavior possibly a reaction to some
herbicide or something like that. Trying to flower it's reproduce its
heart out before it gives up the ghost?
Sorry to be such a stickler on this, but I'm trying to understand - so I
don't have it happen again.
