Re: geum gone to seed

Hi Pat,
I dont post often but your subject caught my attention..
And yes,its very possible that its herbicide related.
Have you or a neighbor sprayed lately with something like RoundUp or Weed
and Feed for lawns?.....Reason I ask is that these work
hormonally, literally causing them to grow them selves to death...At the
minimum distortion of plant part effected or touched by chemicals.
Also some plants are *Extremely* sensitive to even the Vapors off of Weed 'n
Feed(cant remember the name of the active ingredient,2,4 -D?)
The young growth on our grape vine( foliage (which is on an arbor, elevated
high above the lawn area)was seriously disfigured ,couldnt figure out what
was causing it..Checked with a local nursery and was told that vapor( to
us,odors wafting in the air)alone would do this..Also if you watch
dandelions after 2,4-D treatment the flower heads twist and contort, but
continue to mature their seed despite treatment.Hope this helps or gives you
a clue anyway.
