Hi Don, & Janet,
Gentian andrewsii, or Bottle Gentian, is pollinated by bumblebees... they
simply cut a hole in the flower, or wiggle down through the "closed" end of the
tube. The pleats formed from the petals are not fused together.
Sometimes bees get trapped inside and you cal hear the blooms buzz when you
are moving trays of plants around in the nursery.
