I'm not crazy about anything that is an aphid magnet, it's the one bug that
really drives me crazy.
My neighbor has golden chain trees that line her/our property line and dangle
over my garden, dropping huge globs of grey aphids all over my plants about
every other year. I usually plant peas on that fence, which is unfortunate,
because after the aphids have reached epic proportions, the neighbor then
brings out his XXXPoison Supreme and starts free-for-all spraying all over my
priorly organic vegetables. I've run out there with newspapers to protect my
poor plants, but it's a losing battle. The trees are hideous by then anyway!
Anyway, I'll give Nicotiana a try and hope for the best. I have a weakness
for big perennials, (if it says 4-6' on the tag then I want it) that trumps
my hatred for aphids I guess.
