This discussion brought back a long ago college botany class; the professor
read a description of a child's death from eating Water Hemlock, Circuta
maculatum, another parsnip look-alike. An extremely unpleasant death and the
horror of the thing has stuck in my mind all this time. I looked on the net
and found a more recent occurrence:
