Rose problems

I'll admit it, I avoid roses. They look great in other people's
yards but they just don't do it for me. Except for one rose --
Austrian Copper. I bought one a few years back and look forward to
those shocking orange poppy-like flowers each year. But this year --
horror of horror! It bloomed a gaudy garnet red with multiple sets
of petals -- not at all my simple orange sweetie. I know that plants
don't mutate that quickly so I assume that I cut it back below the
graft (I didni't even realize it was grafted) at some point this
year. I recall cutting out dead canes and leaving the strongest
three or four but didn't notice any difference about them.

So I'm thining about cutting back the red flwoering canes while I can
tell which they are to see if there are any canes that will bloom
orange.

Anyone got any other suggestions?

Nan
