RE: peonies

Claire, Thank you very much for the good information :). Marilyn

You can keep a peony stalk in bud in the fridge and take it out on any
summer
day for a vase of peonies.

You wrap each stalk with buds just minutely showing color in very damp paper
towels. Then put them into a roll with some buds on either end to make a
staight package.
Wrap the package of bloomstalks in wax paper several layers thick and put
the
package made by the wax paper wrapping on a shelf in the fridge, again the
rear of the box and where it is safe from foods. It takes very little
space.
Check the toweling every few weeks and redampen if necessary. To bloom
these buds put the stalks in a tall container of water and keep upright in
the fridge. If you do it out side the fridge the buds will open almost
immediately.

They will be quite like June peonies and in July or August it is like magic.
