RE: weather & blooms/ peony

Hi Gene,
I'm sure the Peonies in your garden are a beautiful sight. I must check
your web site to see if you have any photos of them.
I haven't seen Peonies at funerals, but our cemeteries here are full of
them today. Lovingly cut from home gardens & placed in vases at the
headstones to honor loved ones. Personally, I saved the very best for my
Dad at Willamette National Cemetery where the flags are flying and the
ceremonies were beautiful to honor all the veterans today.

Hello Marilyn,
One of the great things about avoiding the full double peony blooms is
seed
production. I end up collecting around a 5 pound size lunch bag of seed each
year,
and end up missing a bit each year. I have seedlings scattered all through
the
western edge of the garden with 40 of them out there to collect from.. Every
second year or so, I did and pot them up in the fall to grow on for gifts,
trades
and bonus plants.
Mine are planted in some shade of red, pink, white, alternating l the way
down
the hillside in a sweeping arch.
I do have the fully doubles that were here when I purchased the
property. I
dug them from all over the place, divided and re-plantalong the driveway to
welcome me home each day... along with daffodils.
Some peony have more fragrance than others, fragrance of each is very
different from the last.... I am not all that crazy about peony fragrance
for
peony are the flowers that end up at a man's funeral... along with glads.
