Hello Marilyn,
One of the great things about avoiding the full double peony blooms is seed
production. I end up collecting around a 5 pound size lunch bag of seed each year,
and end up missing a bit each year. I have seedlings scattered all through the
western edge of the garden with 40 of them out there to collect from.. Every
second year or so, I did and pot them up in the fall to grow on for gifts, trades
and bonus plants.
Mine are planted in some shade of red, pink, white, alternating l the way down
the hillside in a sweeping arch.
I do have the fully doubles that were here when I purchased the property. I
dug them from all over the place, divided and re-plantalong the driveway to
welcome me home each day... along with daffodils.
Some peony have more fragrance than others, fragrance of each is very
different from the last.... I am not all that crazy about peony fragrance for
peony are the flowers that end up at a man's funeral... along with glads.
