RE: Tilling when wet/ weather & blooms

Hi Gene,
Speaking of Peonies, I have 3 new ones that are blooming now for the first
time. I chose them out of a field all in bloom last year at this time.
They are very large flowered singles with a big center of long gold stamens.
I am very impressed by the sturdiness of the stems. These will not go down
in the wind or rain. The colors are screaming magenta ( I love that
color!), shell pink and pure white. Quite a sight.
All my others are very old doubles (names unknown) which have beautiful,
very heavy flowers on stems that are too weak. I am very happy to see that
hybridizers worked for the stronger stems. My only complaint of my new ones
is that they don't smell much at all and my old ones are very fragrant.
They always remind me of freshly laundered sheets that have dried outside in
the sun. A wonderful clean smell.
I'm thinking I need to find space for at least 3 more :). So many colors,
so little space.....

P.S. What is the anemone form? A semi-double?

In spite of, or because of, all the peony have been beautiful this year. All
bloomed at once rather than early, mid-season and late, but they were
lovely.
Singles, japanese and anemone form of bloom... about 40 of them forming the
western outside of the garden. Species lilium are beginning to come into
bloom.
